John Franklin Adams

John F. Adams, 94 of Mendon, Ohio, passed away Friday, May 20, 2016.
John was born Sept. 24, 1921 in Fort Jennings, Ohio, to Berl Adams and Velma (Davis) Adams. On Sept. 19, 1948, he married Jean A. Dicke, who preceded him in death Aug. 13, 2008.
John is survived by two daughters; Janice (Dennis) Clay of Mendon and Joyce (Brian) Burckholter of Antwerp, Ohio; 3 grandchildren, Andrew Clay, Aaron Clay and Amy (Tom) Bradley, all of Mendon; and three great grandchildren: Emma and Carly Clay and Branson Bradley.
John graduated from York Township High School in May 1940, and proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy from August 1942 to November 1945. He served in the Pacific Theater, was involved in the Normandy Beachhead Invasion and was honorably discharged as a Gunner's Mate 2nd Class, having served on USS Glennon.
John worked at the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in St. Marys, Ohio, and Fruehauf Manufacturing in Delphos, Ohio. John was a lifelong farmer.
He loved his family and his country. He was active in his church and community, being involved in the Lions Club for over 50 years. He was a life member of Bowersock Brothers V.F.W. Post 6772 in Spencerville, Ohio. John and his wife were also members of the Mercer County Farm Bureau Assn.
