Avery Leroy "Lucky" Howard

Avery Leroy "Lucky" Howard, 90, of Charleston, S.C., husband of Gloria Norris Howard, entered into eternal rest Sunday, May 22, 2016.
Avery was born Nov. 16, 1925 in Elliott County, Sandy Hook, Ky., son of the late William G. Howard and Florence Howard. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served during WWII. Avery retired from SCE&G after 34 years of service as a mechanic. He was a member of American Legion Post 0179 and Ashley River Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Gloria Howard of Charleston; three daughters, Barbara Ann Howard Hardwick of James Island, S.C., Mary Alice Howard Aikman of Indianapolis, Norma Jean Howard Field (Chris) of Charleston; daughter-in-law, Cathy Howard of Cottageville, S.C.; two step-daughters, Deborah Smith Knight (Roger), and Carol Smith Heissenbuttle, both of Charleston; three sisters,Virginia H. Evans of Arlington, Texas, Joan H. Upchurch of Nashville, and Madeline H. Adkins of Sandy Hook; brother, Billy Howard; four grandchildren, Emily Knight Shier (Matthew), Jenna Leigh Heissenbuttle, Christopher Joseph Field II, James Donald Field, IIl., and extended family Allen Moyer, Bryan Moyer (Amber) and Craig Moyer.
Avery is predeceased by son, Avery L. Howard Jr., daughter, Betty Ruth Howard Tucker, son, William Avery "Lucky" Howard, four brothers and three sisters.
