Emil Setmayer

Emil Setmayer, 90, a retired Paramus police captain, passed away on July 13, 2016. Emil, affectionately known to friends and colleagues as "Set" or "Cap," was a lifelong resident of Paramus. Emil joined the Paramus Police Department in 1947, where he dedicated his life to protecting and serving residents of Paramus for 39 years. Prior to joining the police force, he honorably served our country in the Army during World War II. For 70 years, Emil volunteered with the Paramus Fire Department Company #3 and was an ex-chief, lifetime member of VFW Post #6699 and American Legion Post 170 in Rochelle Park.
Cherished husband of the late Gloria (nee Dato). Beloved father of, Jacquelyn Setmayer and Deborah Maletic and her husband Eno. Treasured grandfather of Tara Setmayer and her husband Marcelle. Predeceased by his siblings Max and Margaret.
