Arthur Leo Griffard

Mr. Arthur Leo Griffard, 91, of Waycross died Feb. 1 at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House after an extended illness. He was born in St. Genevieve, Mo., to the late Arthur Charles Griffard and Rosemary Labruyere Griffard. Growing up he was a member of St. Genevieve Catholic Church. He enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 17, where he served during World War II. After discharge from the Navy, he worked for Waycross Battery and Electric. He moved to Warner Robins, Ga., and worked at Robins Air Force Base for 25 years before retiring and moving back to Waycross. In Waycross, he was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the VFW, The American Legion and Haywood Baptist Church. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille King Griffard, one brother, James Griffard, and two sisters, Elivine Hogenmiller and Loretta Zavadil.
Mr. Griffard is survived by one son, Stanley Griffard and his wife Barbara of Warner Robins; three daughters, April Clark and her husband Johnny of Poulan, Ga., Marsha Williams of Warner Robins, and Kelly Woytalewicz and her husband Mark of Brandon, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Leona Knierim of St. Louis; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A memorial service was held Saturday, February 9, in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Satilla, 808 Evergreen Way, Waycross, Georgia 31501.
