William Sanderson

William Sanderson, age 77, of Bloomingdale, N.J., after a prolonged illness passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 7, at Mount Kimble Palliative Care in Morristown, N.J. He was predeceased by his parents George (Chip) Sanderson, his mother Mary (Mc Grath) Sanderson, brothers Joseph Sanderson and George (Butch) Sanderson, and a son, David Sanderson.
Bill was born in Paterson, N.J., where he resided for 54 years before moving with his family to Bloomingdale 23 years ago.
Known as Bill, dad or Pop Pop, he was devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren, family and friends. He was proxy father to many and his home was always open to anyone in need. He worked as a machinist in research and development for 25+ years, then worked for Zimmer Industries in Hawthorne, N.J., for 20 years. Bill proudly served his country in the USAF from 1960-1964 in Grand Forks, N.D. He was a member of SAC (personal equipment, survival, and rescue). He re-enlisted in the USAF Reserve from 1979-2000,when he retired from the military.
Bill is a lifetime member of the USAF Sergeant’s Association and the NRA. He proudly served as president of the USAFSA, Chapter 257. He was a member of American Legion Post 170, Wounded Warriors Project, St. Jude’s Children Foundation, Lakota Indian Feed the Children, and too many more to mention.
His greatest joys were many hunting trips with his sons, going to the shooting range and spending time with his grandchildren. After retiring he and his wife traveled extensively in the United States, Europe and many islands, creating many happy memories.
Bill is survived by his devoted wife, Charlotte (Reeves) Sanderson, his beloved sons, William (Bill) and his wife Shelly (Van Sickell), Steven and his wife Tricia (De Witt), three cherished grandchildren Joshua, Kayla and Evan, a brother, John, of Owego, N.Y., as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
