He was a member of American Legion Post 170. He was a lifelong member of River Edge VFW Post 876 and commander for over 40 years. A devout Catholic, he read the Bible every day, was a parishioner of St. Peter the Apostle Church and served as an usher for over 55 years.
After retiring at the age of 72 from his lifelong job, he continued to work as a crossing guard at Cherry Hill School for 23 years until he retired at the age of 95. He was loved dearly by all the children he crossed.
