John E. Martin

John grew up in Elmore City, Okla., and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force after he graduated from high school in 1968. He married his high school sweetheart, Debby Oller, shortly after enlisting. His basic training was done at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, then on to training in Rantoul, Il., as a jet engine/2 mechanic. Transfers saw him in Yokota AFB Japan (B-52s), Travis AFB CA (B-52s) Altus AFB OK (KC-135s) and Tinker AFB OK (E-3A). While serving his country John attained the rank of TSgt (E-6) and served proudly. He retired from the AF in 1988 to complete his education, receiving a bachelor's of science degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in occupational safety. He worked for the Oklahoma Dept. of Veterans Affairs for 11 years, counseling veterans on the benefits they'd earned while serving this great nation.
John was born on Dec. 17, 1949, and passed from this life to his heavenly home on Dec. 27, 2020. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, 2 daughters and 1 grandson.
