How many American Legion Baseball alumni are in the National Baseball Hall of Fame?

Since the program’s inception in 1925, 59 players from Yogi Berra to Ryne Sandberg, from Ted Williams to Greg Maddux, have gone from competing on Legion fields to having bronze plaques dedicated to them in the Hall of Fame and accompanying museum in Cooperstown, N.Y. In a nice bit of symmetry, each June the George W. Rulon American Legion Player of the Year is invited to the Hall of Fame Classic game in Cooperstown, where he receives his award on Doubleday Field. The 2011 Player of the Year, Blake Schmit of Eden Prairie, Minn., attended the game on June 16 – read more about it here.

Hard to believe that Pete Rose did not play Legion ball ! Or is he still being punished for betting on baseball ? Can't take away the fact that he was one of the best baseball players to play the game.
