What was the first name for what would become Boys Nation?

The Boys Forum of National Government. Held for the first time in 1946 in Washington, it was adopted by that year’s Legion national convention as an official youth activity. In 1949, it became American Legion Boys Nation, by which it is still known today. At Boys Nation, two delegates from each Boys State – another Legion youth activity dating back to 1935 – gather to replicate learning about the workings of government, on a national rather than state level. This year’s Boys Nation starts this weekend; learn more at www.legion.org/boysnation.
