How did Post 163 in Texas help its community remember World War II?

According to the Centennial Celebration page of Post 163 in Weatherford, Texas: "American Legion Post 163 was designated an official World War Commemorative Community by the Department of Defense and pledged to plan three or more events a year from 1993 through 1995 to participate in the 50th Anniversary of World War II." Post partner KZEE-AM, a local radio station, received the 1993 Department Media Award - selected by the Public Relations Commission - as Radio Station of the Year for the work done in the commemorative endeavor, which "featured interviews of Parker County veterans interspersed with patriotic music of each war era. It was then broadcast throughout the day on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 1993."

DoD commissioned hundreds such "commemorative communities" across the country, from schools to organizations to corporations to actual towns and more, to mark the war's anniversary.
