Should the word “disorder” be removed from post-traumatic stress disorder?
Choices
Yes, because it causes stigmas that prevent veterans from getting jobs.
Yes, because it is not a disorder so much as a normal human reaction to severe stress.
No, because it is a lifelong psychological condition that can’t really be cured, only treated.
No, because the term has to be considered a disorder in order to ensure sufferers receive government benefits.
We should go back to calling it shell shock, soldier’s heart, combat fatigue or one of its earlier names.
