The expansion of terrorist operations globally will be the most important issue facing both the incoming Secretary of Defense and Secretary of State not just for the next four years but until a real plan for the isolation and marginalization of terrorists abilities to find a safe haven anywhere on earth. This will remain the primary issue not only for these two individual Cabinet positions but for the entire Administration and Congress as well.
Sequestration doesn't, economically or socially, amount to anything meaningfully productive or counter-productive; all it actually does is reduce, by a minute percentage, the amount of future spending. Increasing health costs in the DoD budget are reflective of national across the board health care cost increases and while a cause of concern, economically and socially, these costs could be partially reduced without the need for continuing operations against terrorists. The continuing draw-down in the Middle East & Central Asia of U.S. troops it might even be argued is adding to the problem of the spread of Global terrorism by demonstrating a continuing lack of will to successfully finish what we (the US) start. These and a myriad of other problems, economic and social, all pale in comparison to the continuing expansion of Islamo-Fascist terrorism.

Too many disabled vets with Service connected disabilities need PX and BX privileges as well as Commissary and Class VI store eligibility. Why hasn't this been done for them already?
The President and the policies he has will be the biggest hurdle he has to face - Unfortunately the President does not have the knowledge to be a leader and he still blames every mistake on others

Secretary Hagel has insufficient world knowledge to assess defense needs or effectively administer the Defense Departrment.

The downsizing of the services in a manner sufficient to maintain our forces necessary to defend our country but do it in a more constrained manner than has been done in prior decades. Keeping us from Nam type wars would be a great success story.

Perhaps unbeknownst to our newly confirmed Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel is the notion that I argue, and that is, WORLD HUMAN OVERPOPULATION GROWTH is the GREATEST THREAT confronting humanity (i.e. globally) in this early 21st century AD; and directly (or indirectly) affects his office, civilian (Pentagon) staff, and ALL U.S. (federal) military personnel (to include supporting State Air, and Army National Guard units and Reserve components), and the Department of Homeland Security!
The world human population currently surpasses 7,000,000,000 people (i.e. 7 billion people) and CONTINUES TO INCREASE significantly and ALARMINGLY DAILY; and the U.S. 2010 Census population surpassing 307,000,000 people (i.e. 307 million people, 3rd largest after China, and India), "strains and drains" GOVERNMENT PRODUCTS and SERVICES; and exhausts ("strains and drains") in the U.S. and Globally; PLANET EARTH'S NATURAL RESOURCES; and, as a result; this logic would seem to justify incentives among nations to go to WAR and engage in ACTS of TERRORISM; to COMPETE (i.e. FIGHT) for WATER, LAND, and FOOD!
The international growing human population crisis sets tempers flaring as the GLOBAL human populace and their governments cry out for, and argue verbally and violently in actions for THEIR VOICES to be heard as PRIORITY, on MASSIVE, DIVERSE ISSUES, SIMULTANEOUSLY! Simply and bluntly speaking THERE ARE TOO MANY PEOPLE ON PLANET EARTH! Moreover, the quality of life is greatly exacerbated, that is, it's bordering on being INTOLERABLE!
Every WOE, CRISIS, DILEMMA, (e.g. SOCIAL, POLITICAL, RELIGIOUS, MILITARY, ECONOMIC, ENVIRONMENTAL, CULTURAL, HUMAN RIGHTS, CIVIL RIGHTS, CRIMINAL) affecting humans is DIRECTLY CONNECTED to "out of control", "explosive" human population growth! As long as Planet Earth has to BEAR the ENORMOUS GROWING HUMAN POPULATION WEIGHT (ATLAS like), and its CONSEQUENCES, GLOBAL TENSIONS and VIOLENCE (e.g. WAR and TERRORISM) WILL INCREASE TO BEING IRREVERSIBLE, and, ITS AFTERMATH? CATACLYSMIC!

With a defense budget larger than the that of the next 14 nations combined, and already having the most modern and best trained forces in the world, the unqualified Hagel needs to struggle with upholding the Constitution while being pressured by all sides (especially the so-called "administration") to do the opposite.

From what I have found about Chuck Hagel, is that he was an Incompetent Senatot, and was very much disliked by bot Repubilicans and Democrats.
Chuck Hagel from his own writting is Anti-Semitic, and hates Israel as much as Ahmoud Ahmadinejed. In other articles, written by other members of Congress he is compared to Hitler.
Chuck Hagel is alos in favor of allowing our sworn Enemy Iran, to have a Nuclear Weapon. This shows he does not understand that Islamic Terrorist Countries like Iran are the problem.

The operations in the middle east. This is another battle that will not be won. It has been going on for thousands of years, and will continue to go on until the end of time. After all it was an illegal war started 13 years ago. We can use all the billions spent over there to help this nation get back to a surplus budget, and give all the vets who served over there the benefits, training, jobs, etc. they are due. We can also deploy them on our borders, and schools to protect us from the criminals, and mentally ill.
