Patriot Day booklet still available

The Public Relations Division at National Headquarters offers a free booklet for posts to use to coordinate local observances of the anniversary of 9/11, marking a somber ninth year on Saturday.

Titled "A Day to Remember: A Community Commemoration in Remembrance of September 11th, 2001," the booklet contains a list of suggested events; tips and guidelines for getting the word out; and sample letters, PSAs, brochures, programs and ads. Such yearly remembrances were urged of posts by an NEC resolution in May 2002, to help communities to carry the lessons of that day, and all that has come after it, with them throughout the year.

There is also a checklist of milestones that can be used to plan a large (or small) ceremony to mark the attacks' 10th anniversary in 2011.

The booklet is available here and is also available on the Legiontown USA site. Upload stories and photos of your remembrance ceremony to Legiontown.
