By June Walbert - January 11, 2012

Many military vets are suffering in this economy, and veterans who had long military careers often struggle to transition to jobs in the civilian work force.
USAA and Military.com commissioned Sperling's Best Places to create a ranking to help military retirees launch a second career, by highlighting the best places in the nation for jobs that match their skill sets.

The ranking is a resource to help military retirees overcome common transition challenges, such as effectively translating job skills and managing a new financial landscape.
Oklahoma City topped the list. Other cities include:

2. Norfolk, Va.
3. Richmond, Va.
4. Austin, Texas
5. San Antonio
6. Madison, Wis.
7. Philadelphia
8. Raleigh, N.C.
9. Omaha, Neb.
10. Manchester, N.H.
