World Baseball Classic features Legion alumni

Five American Legion Baseball alumni players are on Team USA's roster for the 2013 World Baseball Classic – a baseball tournament that features professional players from the major leagues around the world.

The Legion Baseball alumni include:

  • Tim Collins, pitcher for the Kansas City Royals
  • Ross Detwiler, pitcher for the Washington Nationals
  • Craig Kimbrel, pitcher for the Atlanta Braves
  • Ryan Vogelsong, pitcher for the San Francisco Giants
  • Glen Perkins, pitcher for the Minnesota Twins

Meanwhile, Team USA coach Grag Maddux is the 1994 American Legion Graduate of the Year, and Joe Torre and Dale Murphy also played Legion Baseball.
