More than 1,500 youth nationwide competed in The American Legion's 2013 Junior Shooting Sports preliminary and qualification round, but only 30 are advancing to the Legion's 23rd annual Junior 3-Position Air Rifle National Championship in Colorado Springs, Colo., Aug. 6-11.
The Legion is sending letters to the top 15 shooters in both the precision  and sporter  category, inviting them to compete in the Junior 3-Position Air Rifle National Championship at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. Each competitor will shoot with a .177 caliber air rifle in three positions: prone, standing and kneeling. And one competitor will win the championship title in each respective category, along with a $2,500 college scholarship donated by the Sons of The American Legion.
The following is a list of the top 15 individuals in both the precision and sporter category.
