A successful season for the 76 Freedom Car

Jerick Johnson, driver of The American Legion/David Law Firm 76 Freedom Car, raced his way to a top-10 finish during the King's Ransom 300 at Memphis Motorsports Park last November, capping a successful 2009 season in the ASA Late Model Challenge Series.

Johnson's performance in that race and the nine-race ASA Challenge Series earned him ninth place in overall championship points and the Rookie of the Year title. He was presented the Rookie of the Year trophy during the ASA Awards Banquet in December in Indianapolis. The trophy is now on display in the front window of American Legion National Headquarters in Indianapolis.

"We are very proud of Johnson and the entire Team Johnson Motorsports crew," American Legion National Adjutant Daniel S. Wheeler said when Johnson and crew chief David Carter carried the trophy to Indianapolis Feb. 19. "We know we cannot keep it, but we are excited that we can display it until after the National Executive Committee meets in May."

The trophy will then be displayed at the offices of The David Law Firm in The Woodlands, Texas, for a period of time before it is returned to the 76 Freedom Car headquarters in Mooresville, N.C., near Charlotte, Johnson said.

"Our success in ASA would not have been possible without the support of The American Legion and The David Law Firm," Johnson said. "We have every reason to believe that 2010 will also be a successful year as a result of our partnership."

The 76 Freedom Car is racing in the Automobile Racing Club of America series (ARCA) during the 2010 season on a number of superspeedways, including Texas Motor Speedway, Talladega Speedway, Pocono Raceway, Chicagoland Speedway, Kansas Speedway, and two other shorter tracks - Iowa Speedway and Rockingham Speedway.
