Riders wanted for escort at national convention

On Aug, 23, all American Legion Riders are invited to participate in an escorted ride leaving League City (Texas) Post 554 to arrive no later than 8:45 a.m. at the DeGeorge Veterans Center renovation at Union Station, 1418 Preston Street, Houston.

The renovation, conducted by Rebuilding Together and Sears’ Heroes at Home, will rebuild and revitalize the 100-year-old building to help improve the lives of the veterans living there. Riders will register and work alongside Legion family members in front of television and radio covering the event.

Afterward, all Riders should plan to attend the National Convention American Legion Riders Meeting from 2-4 p.m. in Room 381, Level Three, George R. Brown Convention Center. All bikes may marshal at the League City American Legion Post 554, 1650 Highway 3 South, for breakfast and a group run to the Rebuilding Together site and free all-day parking in Houston arranged by The American Legion. Passes will be provided for Riders to visit the national convention exhibitor’s area and shop for Rider merchandise at the National Emblem Sales Store.
