Legion Riders: Tell your Legacy Run story

Legion Riders: Tell your Legacy Run story

Each year hundreds of American Legion Riders take part in the annual Legacy Run, riding across hundreds of miles to raise funds for the children of servicemembers killed on active duty – and now also the children of disabled post-9/11 veterans.

While the Legacy Run does generate some good outside press, many community and city media outlets have no idea local Legion Riders are taking part in the Run. We’re trying to change that.

National Headquarters has developed a sample press release that Legion Riders who take part in the Legacy Run can share with their local media outlets after the Run concludes. The sample allows you to fill in names, mileage amount, chapter number and the amount donated to The American Legion Legacy Scholarship Fund by the chapter/Riders.

While this is an opportunity to give the Legion Riders some great publicity in communities across the nation, it’s also a chance to give individual Riders some recognition they truly deserve. The Legacy Run wouldn’t be the success it has been if it weren’t for local chapters and Riders working tirelessly to raise funds.
