Fairfax post again hub for Legion Rolling Thunder activities

American Legion Post 177 in Fairfax, Va., will again serve as the rally point for several American Legion Riders activities during the annual Rolling Thunder Ride to Freedom on Memorial Day weekend in Washington, D.C. Post 177 began hosting the event in 2012 to give Legion Riders another national event to attend.

The weekend will be capped with hundreds of Legion Riders departing Post 177 early in the morning to take part in the Run to the Thunder. Other highlights of the weekend include a ride to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial for a candlelight vigil and a wreath-laying at Arlington National Cemetery. Gold Star Families will be honored during the weekend.

Camping options in the area are still being explored, and more info will be made available when known on the www.ALRRollingThunder.com website. Several hotels also are near Post 177.
