Apply for $5,000 nursing scholarship

Applications for the $5,000 Eight and Forty Lung and Respiratory Disease Nursing Scholarship are now available for nurses wanting to advance their training in pediatric lung and respiratory diseases or to prepare for positions in clinical practice and management.

Applicants are specifically required to have prospects of full-time employment that have a direct relationship with pediatric lung and respiratory disease nursing. To view the scholarship’s complete requirements, download the nursing scholarship brochure.

Awards are made on the basis of personal and academic qualifications, with consideration given to past experience and future employment plans as they relate to pediatric lung and respiratory disease nursing.

All Eight and Forty applications must be postmarked no later than May 15, and scholarship recipients will be announced July 1. Applications that are incomplete or lack required documentation will not be considered. All decisions of the selection committee, comprised of Eight and Forty members, are final.

  1. I was very honored to receive a $5,000 scholarship to begin my graduate nursing program in 2012 which I did however I have not been able to complete my program which should have been December 2014. The American Legion Award was a life saver, I would not have been able to begin had it not been for them. Although I secured additional money to continue my studies, I will not finish now until December 1, 2015 and I will need additional funds after the summer session which ends in July.
  2. My daughter is going to nursing school in Anderson, SC and wanted to see if you had any scholarship opportunities for her to apply. I have an older daughter who received a nursing scholarship from a local post and this daughter wants to go into pediatric nursing but not sure if specifically respiratory. If you could let me know I would appreciate it. Thanks Annette spivey
