2013 Washington Conference

2013 AMERICAN LEGION WASHINGTON CONFERENCE The 53rd Annual Washington Conference of The American Legion Family will be held Sunday, February 24 through Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at the Washington Hilton, 1919 Connecticut Avenue, NW, Washington, DC, 20009. The National Sons of The American Legion Memorial Wreath Laying Ceremony at The Tomb of The Unknown Soldier, Arlington National Cemetery (in Arlington, Virginia) is scheduled for Sunday, February 24, 2013 at 11:15 A.M. A memorial wreath will be placed by National Commander Chris Huntzinger (PA) and members representing various Detachments present to honor our Veterans of all Wars. National Commander Chris will also lay wreaths with representative members at the Korean Memorial, Nurse’s Memorial and World War II Memorial. Other members of The American Legion Family are encouraged to attend and join The Sons of The American Legion in observance of these solemn ceremonies of honor. Detachments will have additional opportunities to present memorial wreaths at the various memorials visited by the National Sons of The American Legion to honor our Veterans from the various wars. The bus will be leaving at 9:15 am sharp on the 24th; we request that all participants plan to be in the hotel lobby no later than 9:00 am. This year’s bus transportation will be available to a limited number of members on a first come first served basis. A box lunch will also be available to those participants of Sunday’s wreath laying (highly recommended). Advance reservation for memorial wreaths, bus seats, and box lunches is mandatory! The Legislative Commission would like to encourage those attending the wreath laying ceremony to make time in their plans to attend the various other programs The American Legion is sponsoring as part of the Washington Conference. The National Legislative Commission would like to thank all those who have participated in the various laying of wreaths and the commission meetings in the past and look forward to seeing you in 2013.
