Blankenship brothers serve in WWI

Creed and James Bruce Blankenship were my great-uncles and served during World War I. Both were born in Pike County, Ky., in the 1890s. Creed survived the war, but Bruce died from exposure to mustard gas after returning home from the war. Creed died in 1982 at the age of 88. I have fond memories of visiting Creed during the summer in Pike County, along with memories of his father, J.R. Blankenship, who was born in 1868.
