Palm Springs Post 519 color guard supports local police/Shop With a Cop

The Palm Springs Post 519 color guard was able to give the Palm Springs Police Officers Association a check for $1,562.32 yesterday for the PSPD Shop With a Cop program, which provides gifts for children in need in the Palm Springs area.

We would like to thank all our members from the color guard who helped with this event, those members who built baskets (special thanks to Rosy Quintana for creating and donating five baskets), color guard member (Lisa Fleres-Schindler) for cooking all the wonderful food for this event, the Auxiliary for volunteering to help and donated gifts/baskets, all the American Legion members for their support and attendance, and Bryan Reyes for coordinating with Walmart to donate the food for this event that gave us the ability to raise all the proceeds toward the POA Shop With a Cop program.

Our American Legion color guard is committed to helping our community’s children in need, especially during these difficult times, and are appreciative of our PSPD chief for giving us the opportunity to partner with them for this event.

As captain of our color guard, I am proud of our members and the wonderful work that they do, even during a pandemic. We provide funeral ceremonial military honors for all our veterans, post our colors at various events, and participate in marching the colors through community parades. This year, due to the pandemic, we are also planning to visit our veterans in assisted living and conduct march-by colors to keep their morale up.

Needless to say, I’m very proud of our color guard and everything they continue to do within our community.

Thank you to all our members!
