Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) cadets in Bitburg, Germany, recently received American Legion medals from East Tennessee. Local Col. Don Edmands, Jr USAF (ret.), traveled to Germany and presented the Military Excellence Medal to Cadet 2nd Lt. Meghan Bernard from Warrensburg, Mo., and the Military Scholastic Excellence Medal to Cadet 1st Lt. Matthew O'Connor of Fort Worth, Texas. Meghan plans to major in pre-med in college, and her father is stationed with the 52nd Munitions Maintenance Group at Spangdahlem Air Force Base. Matthew plans to attend Notre Dame majoring in civil engineering and his father is chief of the 52nd Fighter Wing Command Post at Spangdahlem.
