Fred Brock Post 828 honors Vietnam veterans, family members during National Vietnam War Veterans Day

SAN ANTONIO – (March 29, 2023) – To honor Vietnam veterans and their families during the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War, Fred Brock American Legion Post 828 hosted its National Vietnam War Veterans Day Program at the post’s event center.

The program featured a meal sponsored by Humana and free live entertainment by the Legends.

In 2012, the United States launched a 13-year-long commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War to ensure that every veteran, family member, caregiver and survivor impacted by the difficult years in Vietnam feels the nation’s gratitude for their sacrifice.

“Our Vietnam veterans have been hit very hard with illnesses and advancing age,” said Post Commander Burrell Parmer. “They are our heroes, and it is fitting to honor them and their loved ones with a meal and entertainment.”

Special thanks to all volunteers who made the event memorable. Additional thanks to Humana for distributing Vietnam War commemorative pins and presidential proclamations to Vietnam veterans and family members present during the program.

“Our Vietnam veterans did not receive the proper welcome home back then,” said Parmer. “They are welcome home now and always to include a home with Fred Brock Post 828.”

Fred Brock Post 828’s mission is to enhance the well-being of San Antonio’s veterans, their families, the military and the community by its devotion to mutual helpfulness.
