Post 449 awards Outstanding Public Safety plaque to Elm Grove police department

ELM GROVE (Nov. 19, 2015) – The Elm Grove police department received a special Outstanding Public Safety Award for 2015 from American Legion Post 449. Awarded in recognition of their outstanding professionalism, the department humbly accepted the award presented by Legion representatives in appreciation of their dedicated service to keeping Elm Grove a safe community.
The plaque and letter of appreciation was presented to Chief Jim Gage of the Elm Grove police department at the morning staff meeting on Nov. 19 by Ron Anderson, commander of Post 449.
The officers were honored not only for their overall performance and professionalism as police officers in the community; they were also honored for keeping Elm Grove a safe city to live in and for promoting a positive relationship between law enforcement and our community.
“The Elm Grove Police Department is truly deserving of this award,” Anderson said. “The stress of daily enforcement has been made more difficult by social changes and still these men and women continue to focus on their mission to serve their community. They are worthy of the respect of all veterans who understand their dedication. We commend them for this daily effort to serve!”
Gage was grateful for the recognition of his officers’ good work. He attributed the officers’ relationship with the business community and service organizations, like Post 449, as a major factor contributing to his agency’s success.
“As a former longtime resident of Elm Grove, American Legion Post 449 has an excellent relationship with our agency. We are grateful for the recognition and support that Post 449 has given us over the years. Being recognized by a group of individuals, who are themselves dedicated to the service and protection of our freedoms and treasured way of life, makes this recognition all the more meaningful for our officers. We look forward to a long partnership and continued success in providing safety and protection for our citizens.”
