Why I joined the American Legion Riders

I am a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and Air Force and have had a lifelong passion with motorcycles. My first introduction to the American Legion Riders (ALR) was when my oldest grandson passed away in a single vehicle accident in 2010. The ALR stood a flag line at my grandson’s memorial to support my daughter who is the veterans coordinator of Clallam County. After my grandson’s death I erected a flag pole at my home in his honor and once again the ALR stood in support of my family.

The respect and support they showed my family was touching and left a life-changing impression on me. I joined the ALR (Post 29 Post Angeles, Wash.) soon after my grandson’s memorial and have been a member ever since. I feel honored to support the veterans of this community through a mutual respect and will continue to stand for them as long as I am able.
