New Orleans stays unbeaten, wins suspended game

SHELBY, N.C. – A 13-hour suspension did not stop New Orleans from defeating Brooklawn, N.J., 6-5, to become the only remaining unbeaten team at the 2012 American Legion World Series at Keeter Stadium on Monday.

New Orleans (40-6) gaines its edge in the second inning, plating four unearned runs on two Brooklawn (57-4) errors. The runs proved to be the difference as the Mid-Atlantic champs battled back for three run in the fourth, but could not overcome the deficit.

The loss was Brooklawn’s first of the tournament, so it remains alive, but must return to play in Game 12 at 5 p.m. against Omaha, Neb. New Orleans will meet Bellevue, Wash., in the nightcap.
