SHELBY, N.C.—

Another standout pitching performance helped Medford (Ore.) Post 15 improve to 2-0 in The American Legion World Series. Seven dominant innings from Cody Coggins and a strong defensive effort paved the way for a 3-2 win against Omaha (Neb.) Fifty-Two's Patriots Post 374.

Coggins retired 16 batters in a row at one point before running into trouble in the eighth inning, when he surrendered two runs. He struck out six and allowed just four hits before giving way to teammate Aaron Hutchinson, who got the final four outs for the save.
Austin Zavala drove in two runs for Medford (43-13), which led 3-0 through seven innings.

Jonah Ulane pitched well for Omaha (41-19), scattering eight hits over seven innings and now allowing an earned run. Jared Renken and Nate Mallott each drove in runs in the loss.
