When you leave the military, the biggest question is "what's next?" It's a scary job market right now, but the skills you've received in the military make you highly marketable. The Legion sponsors dozens of veterans hiring fairs each year, and our employment experts also provide tips to writing resumes, networking and making a strong impression in the interview process.
Military.com has released an online employment search engine that allows veterans to tailor their job search according to their military training and specializations. The Job Skills Translator asks servicemembers and veterans visiting the site to enter their service branch, pay grade, military job title and any relevant civilian skills. It then returns a nationwide listing of jobs that best suits the job-seeker’s service and civilian acumen.
Current and former military members are encouraged to use the search engine because it collates skills and experiences they’ve gained in and out of the service. The option of adding one or more civilian skills allows the job-seeker to refine his or her search as narrowly as needed. The search can also be limited by location, title and keywords.
The search engine is powered by Monster.com. The Legion has partnerships with Military.com and Monster.com and actively works with both organizations to promote veterans employment.
