Veterans invited to attend manufacturing conference

A panel discussion on veterans in the advanced manufacturing field will take place June 11 during the Big M manufacturing conference in Detroit. The conference will take place June 9-12 at the Cobo Center.

The discussion is being put on by Get Skills to Work, GE’s collaborative program that joins major manufacturers and educators to prepare and place veterans in long-term careers.

Panel discussion participants Kris Urbauer, GE’s program manager for veterans initiatives; Will Brick, general manager of TechShop in Detroit; Joe Petrosky, dean of engineering & advanced technology at Macomb Community College; and Dustin Walsh, manufacturing and automotive reporter at Crain’s Detroit Business, will share their experience about how veterans contribute to their innovative workforce.

The discussion will take place on the main stage of Big M at 3 p.m. June 11. A limited number of passes to the entire conference – including the panel discussion – are being made available to veterans. To request a pass, email by June 9. Complementary tickets to the entire Big M conference will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
