When you leave the military, the biggest question is "what's next?" It's a scary job market right now, but the skills you've received in the military make you highly marketable. The Legion sponsors dozens of veterans hiring fairs each year, and our employment experts also provide tips to writing resumes, networking and making a strong impression in the interview process.
On Aug. 3 and Aug. 4, The American Legion Department of Wisconsin will conduct a résumé writing workshop for veterans seeking federal employment. The two-day event, which is being organized in conjunction with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce, is being held at the Department of Natural Resources in Milwaukee from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. A lunch break is given from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
All veterans who are interested in applying for federal jobs within the next year are invited to attend. There is no registration. Attendees can simply show up.
The workshop will teach veterans how to write an exceptional résumé specifically tailored for a federal position. Attendees will also gain knowledge, information and resources regarding veterans employment with the federal government.
