When you leave the military, the biggest question is "what's next?" It's a scary job market right now, but the skills you've received in the military make you highly marketable. The Legion sponsors dozens of veterans hiring fairs each year, and our employment experts also provide tips to writing resumes, networking and making a strong impression in the interview process.
Servicemembers and veterans are invited to join Legionnaires, academia, federal officials and potential employers for a networking event and reception on the fifth floor of the Hilton Milwaukee City Center from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Aug. 27. Attendees will gather in the Regency Ballroom to network and discuss employment opportunities while enjoying appetizers and drinks.
The reception is at the site of The American Legion's National Convention and is sponsored by the organization's Economic Division. Festivities follow the culmination of the Veterans on Campus Symposium, an education workshop sponsored by the Legion and Student Veterans of America that is in the same building. The event, which focuses on improving the lives of student veterans, will bring together servicemembers, veterans and members of the academic community to discuss ways to make servicemembers' transition into college smoother. The ensuing networking event and social reception is also free of charge. Attendees can simply show up.
