VA urges veterans to get flu shots, COVID-19 boosters

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is urging veterans to get vaccinated to protect themselves and others against the flu. Vaccination is the best way to prevent catching and spreading the virus.

Health experts say it is especially important to get these shots and stay healthy amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Each year, approximately one in 10 people get the flu virus and nearly 36,000 die from complications.

VA is also encouraging veterans to get a COVID-19 vaccine or booster shot during the same visit.

Veterans enrolled in VA health care can get a free flu shot at their local VA medical facility or from over 70,000 in-network providers if they have received care through VA in the last 24 months.
