Meeting with chairman of Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee

Economic Division staff is meeting with Sen. Tom Carper, chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, to discuss The American Legion’s position on education policy and legislation. The meeting comes prior to a July 23 hearing, “The 90/10 Rule: Improving Educational Outcomes for Military and Veteran Students.” Currently, VA and DoD educational benefits count towards the 10 percent of revenue that must come from non-Department of Education sources. Current proposals would count VA and DoD educational benefits on the 90-percent side, rather than 10 percent.
