Members of the Public Relations and National Security staff are joining with volunteers in Southern California to distribute Operation Comfort Warriors gifts to more than 300 wounded warriors at Balboa Naval Hospital. Gifts include backpacks, DVDs, electronics, socks and magazines.

Hosting VET-Force meeting

The Legion's Washington office is hosting a meeting of the 200-member VET-Force (Veterans Entrepreneurship Task Force) organization. VET-Force, founded in 1998, promotes small business opportunities for military veterans, particularly disabled veterans, and advocates on their behalf on Capitol Hill.

Sending out electronic newsletter to Children's Action Team

Members of the Children’s Action Team (CATS) are receiving an electronic newsletter providing updates on the amount of donations raised to date ($264,195) and the 2011 Child Welfare Foundation grant recipients. CAT members work tirelessly to raise awareness and donations for The American Legion Child Welfare Foundation.

National Headquarters staff is attending the annual American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) meeting in Nashville, Tennessee. An American Legion Baseball information booth is being staffed by several American Legion Baseball coaches and department Baseball chairmen who also are attending the meeting.

Helping military families through the Family Support Network

The American Legion's Family Support Network continues to provide the families of mobilized service personnel assistance when support is needed for a variety of everyday chores. These tasks may include assistance with grocery shopping, child care, mowing the grass, fixing the family car and other routine household jobs.
