The Legion’s System Worth Saving Task Force is conducting a site visit of the Tennessee Valley Department of Veterans Affairs Healthcare System’s Nashville Campus. During the visit, the task force is focusing on VA’s accomplishments and progress over the past 10 years, current issues and concerns, as well as VA’s five-year strategic plan for several program areas, such as: VA’s budget, staffing, enrollment/outreach, hospital programs (e.g. mental health, intensive care unit (ICU), long-term services and support, homelessness programs) information technology and construction programs.
Warren Goldstein, Assistant Director for TBI/PTSD Programs, is participating in a webinar on “Integrating Mobile Technology into Existing Treatment of TBI” sponsored by the Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury. This webinar will discuss the following:
• How to integrate new technology tools into current practice with TBI patients
• How mHealth impacts evidence-based clinical practices
• How psychological health or TBI-related problems and the current applications may enable, improve, and enhance cognitive function

Seehafer, System Worth Saving Task Force Member are conducting a town hall meeting at 7 p.m. at American Legion Post 88 in Nashville, Tenn. Any veterans or family members enrolled in the Tennessee Valley VA Healthcare System are invited to attend.
Edward Lilley, an American Legion National Field Service Representative, is attending the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations Hearing on “Correcting 'Kerfuffles' – Analyzing Prohibited Practices and Preventable Patient Deaths at Jackson VAMC.” A series of whistleblower complaints from Jackson VAMC employees to an independent federal watchdog called the Office of Special Counsel have raised concerns about poor sterilization procedures, understaffing and misdiagnoses at the facility.
American Legion National Vice Commander Robert E. Newman will represent the Legion at a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery's Tomb of the Unknowns and will visit the Vietnam Veterans Memorial to lay a wreath at The Wall on behalf of the Legion.
