The Legion is submitting testimony for the record for, as well as attending, today’s Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs hearing on pending health care legislation.
The Legion’s National Executive Committee will hear reports from the 100th Anniversary Observance Committee, and the Economic, Internal Affairs, Americanism, Children & Youth, National Security, Foreign Relations and Legislative commissions.
The Legion is attending three committee hearings today: the House Committee on Veterans Affairs markup of legislation, the Senate Armed Services Committee review of Army modernization in the fiscal 2014 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), and the House Armed Services Committee review of national defense priorities for the fiscal 2014 NDAA.

The Legion is attending House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Oversight & Investigations Subcommittee hearing, “VA Construction Policy: Failed Plans Result in Plans that Fail.”
American Legion appeals representative Zack Hearn is at the VA Regional Office in Oakland Calif. this week as part of a team reviewing 50 randomly selected Fully Developed Claim files to gauge accuracy and timeliness of adjudication. Claims that are fully developed – that is, with all needed information initially supplied to VA processors rather than piece meal – streamlines the adjudication process significantly. The Legion is working with VA to develop and fine tune an FDC protocol to aid veterans in obtaining their earned benefits promptly.
