Legionnaires from the Department of Illinois will participate in a U.S. Chamber of Commerce employment fair in Chicago. More than 200 veteran-seeking employers from the Chicago area and beyond will be represented, including Allstate Insurance Company, Cardinal Health, CBS Radio, Ernst & Young, Hyatt Hotels Corporation, Illinois Department of Transportation, NAPA Auto Parts, Navistar Defense, U.S. Cellular and Walmart Stores, Inc.

House Veterans' Affairs Committee, Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs – reevaluating the transition from servicemember to veteran.
Senate Veterans Affairs Committee – nomination of judges to the U.S. Court of Appeals on Veterans Claims.
Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense – Defense health programs.
Senate Foreign Relations Committee – U.S. policy on Iran
Independence, Mo., Legion Post 21 is hosting a veterans’ job fair. This free-of-charge hiring event for veterans and their spouses is set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 16701 E. U.S. Highway 40 in Independence. Job seekers are encouraged to dress appropriately to meet would-be employers and bring a supply of resumes. The fair is one of an ongoing series of “Hiring Our Heroes” events staged by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and co-sponsors. Four hundred career fairs are scheduled nationwide this year; a number of them hosted by Legion posts.
The American Legion is attending the legislative presentations of several veterans service organizations before the Joint House and Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs. Those presenting included Paralyzed Veterans of America, Air Force Sergeants Association, AMVETS, Gold Star Wives of America, Fleet Reserve Association, Military Officers Association of America, Jewish War Veterans and Blinded Veterans Association.
National staff of the Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation Division are attending a three-day meeting of VA's Advisory Committee on Women Veterans. Updates will be given on benefits and services for women veterans.
American Legion Post 991 in Worth, Ill., is hosting a veterans career fair. It is one of an ongoing series of hundreds of job fairs being conducted as part of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s “Hiring Our Heroes” initiative launched last year with Legion support. Job-seeking veterans, Guard and reserve troops and their spouses are invited to the morning event at the Marrs-Meyer American Legion Post, 11001 South Depot Street in Worth, a southwestern suburb of Chicago. The hours are 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
The Legion is joining the U.S. Chamber in a Ft. Campbell, Ky., career fair today. Job seekers are encouraged to bring a supply of résumés “dress for success” and report to Cole Park Common, 1610 William C. Lee Road, Ft. Campbell between 9a.m. and 3 p.m. The fair continues March 22. National and international employers will be on hand today. Local and regional job providers will be represented at the fair tomorrow. Ft. Campbell is an hour northwest of Nashville and an hour and a half southeast of Paducah.
