Legion staff will testify before the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs regarding the
Improving Job Opportunities for Veterans Act of 2013 and other bills. Legion staff also will attend an HVAC hearing, “Sustaining the Sacred Trust: An Update on our National Cemeteries.”
Staff from the Legion’s Economic Division will meet with Sen. Richard Durbin (D-Ill.) and Rep. Mike Coffman (R-Colo.) to discuss education policy and legislation, as well as military credentialing, current pilot programs and continued funding for these programs.
A team from The American Legion’s System Worth Saving Task Force is evaluating the quality of VA health care, especially for women veterans, at the Spokane VA Medical Center in Washington.
A team from The American Legion’s System Worth Saving (SWS) Task Force is conducting a town hall meeting in Spokane, Wash., on the quality of health care for women veterans at the Spokane VA Medical Center. The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at American Legion Post 9 on 300 W. Mission Ave. in Spokane. It is open to all veterans in the area. Women who have served in the armed forces and are currently receiving health care from the VA are especially encouraged to participate.
Members of the Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation Division are participating in a conference call with Department of Veterans Affairs officials to discuss the department’s construction budget, the Capital Asset for Realignment for Enhanced Services program, and the Strategic Capital Investment Process.
