An executive vice president of the mammoth bank is being questioned about unlawful practices that led to some active-duty servicemembers wrongly losing their homes.

Moderated by the Sierra Club, the “Easing the Transition Home for Veterans through Good, Green Jobs” panel discussion is concentrating on employment challenges faced by veterans and solutions offered by emerging opportunities in the “green economy.”

Invitations are arriving to over 50 non-profit organizations asking them to exhibit at The American Legion’s National Convention next August in Minneapolis. These organizations are previous Child Welfare Foundation grant recipients, and exhibiting at national convention provides opportunity for them to highlight to Legion members many of the issues facing children today.

The Legion’s Economic Division director, Joe Sharpe, is among those meeting with White House officials today in an effort to persuade the Obama administration to continue an employer incentive program that benefits veterans. The congressionally authorized Work Opportunity Tax Credit rewards private-sector businesses that hire individuals from a dozen targeted groups, including veterans with service-connected disabilities
