In a far off corner of Arlington
I saw a simple stone
And on its marble face was carved
A simple word....."Unknown".

I could not help but wonder
Who could this man have been?
And did he speak of love
Or write it with his pen?

Did he come from farm or city
When he heard the bugle call?
And did they wipe a tear away
When told that he did fall?

In a far off corner of Arlington
My heart was heavy and sad
For this unknow, but to his God
For a life he never had.
