Children & Youth Conference begins Friday

Legionnaires, Sons of The American Legion and Auxiliary members, along with other distinguished guests, will convene at the Sheraton Indianapolis City Centre Hotel from Sept. 16-18 for the Legion's fifth annual Children & Youth Conference. Presentations and topics during the three-day event include fundraising, Internet crimes against children, Sesame Street Workshop: When Families Grieve, the Child Welfare Foundation, Temporary Financial Assistance, American Legion Auxiliary Children & Youth programs, Our Military Kids and the National Children's Cancer Society.Registration is free for Legion family members.

I am saddened to see that the AMERICAN LEGION, SONS OF THE AMERICAN LEGION AND AUXILLARY MEMBERS did not bring to THIS YEARS CONFERENCE the experts on THE LEGACY OF AGENT ORANGE HERBICIDES ON VETERANS CHILDREN. THIS IS VERY SAD SINCE OUR CONGRESS HAS INTRODUCED LEGISLATION H.R. 2634 VICTIMS OF AGENT ORANGE EXPOSURE 112TH CONGRESS

To direct the Secretary of State to provide assistance for certain individuals affected by exposure to Agent Orange and the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to enhance the availability of medical care for descendants of veterans of the Vietnam era, and for other purposes.
