Legion to host 1,100 NASC delegates

More than 1,100 student council members from around the world will convene in Indianapolis, June 26-29, for the National Association of Student Councils (NASC) National Convention. Throughout the four-day event, the middle and high school delegates will visit popular sites such as the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Children’s Museum, the city’s many war memorials and The American Legion Mall, which is located next to National Headquarters.

From 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 27, the delegates will congregate in the Legion Mall. During this time, they will hear an overview of the organization and its multiple youth programs and scholarships from Bill Pease, the Legion’s Fundraising Division director. Additionally, staff from National Headquarters will be available to speak with the students about the Legion’s excellent opportunities for youth, such as Legion Baseball, Boys and Girls State, Oratorical Contest and more.

For the past 79 years, the NASC has been helping middle and high school student councils become more effective in creating a positive school environment with its annual NASC National Conference. The conference is a time for delegates to participate in leadership workshops, listen to inspiring speakers and network with each other to advance their student council program.
