World Series champs to be honored by MLB

Brooklawn, N.J., Post 72, which capped a dominating 2014 with its second-straight American Legion World Series crown in August, is in Kansas City, Mo., this week to be honored on Major League Baseball’s biggest stage.

The Legion’s top baseball team will attend Games 1 and 2 of the World Series between Kansas City and San Francisco. And at the Royals’ Kauffman Stadium on Wednesday night, Brooklawn will be invited onto the field to be honored prior to the game.

The players arrived in Kansas City today in time for tonight’s opening game. During their down time Wednesday, they will visit the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum and then have lunch at Fiorella’s Jack Stack Barbecue.

Brooklawn, which finished its season 54-7, was the first team in 40 years to win consecutive AL World Series titles.
