Thompson Square to perform at Legion World Series

Country music duo Thompson Square will perform at the Celebration of Champions on Aug. 12 at Keeter Stadium during The American Legion Baseball World Series. The Parade of Champions take place before the concert to honor all eight regional champions (players and coaches) before the 89th World Series begins the next day.

Thompson Square is composed of husband and wife, Keifer and Shawna Thompson. Shawna is originally from Chatom, Ala., and met Keifer, a native of Miami, Okla., at a singing competition in Nashville, Tenn. Before deciding to form a duo, they worked as independent artists. In 2007, they sang back-up vocals on Ty Herndon’s track, “Right About Now.”

In January 2010, the duo signed to Stoney Creek Records, a division of Broken Bow Records. Soon after, they began turning heads with their debut single, “Let’s Fight.” The song debuted on the Weekly Hot Country Songs chart at the beginning of June 2010.

Since that debut, Thompson Square, has gained national and international recognition because of their No. 1 hits “Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not,” “If I Didn’t Have You,” and “Everything I Shouldn’t Be Thinking About.”

The couple was honored as both the CMA and ACM “Vocal Duo of the Year” in 2012 and 2013. They reclaimed the ACM award the next year. Thompson Square released a single earlier this month titled “Trans Am.” The duo’s third album will be released later this year.
