South Carolina's Hawkins Player of the Year

In addition to helping his team win the 2015 American Legion World Series championship, Chapin-Newberry (S.C.) Post 193 shortstop Justin Hawkins took home some personal hardware.

During the postgame ceremony, Hawkins was awarded the George W. Rulon American Legion Player of the Year Award. In regional and ALWS play, Hawkins hit ,368 with five home runs and 12 runs batted in. His effort also won him the Dr. Irvin L “Click” Cowger RBI Award for the most RBIs and Big Stick Award for the most total bases (31).

New Orleans outfielder Ben Hess was named the James E. Daniel Jr. Memorial Sportsmanship Award recipient and also won The American Legion Baseball Slugger Award for the high batting average (.488) during national competition.

The Jack Williams Memorial Leadership Award went to Post 193’s coaching staff: Ken Minasian, Daniel Gregory, Bob Livingston, David Coats, Marion Baker and Michael Robertson.

Medford (Ore.) Post 15 pitcher Jordan Ragan won the Bob Feller Pitching Award for the most strikeouts (23).
