Winter Garden (Fla.) Post 63 launches 22-day Countdown to Challenge 22

Winter Garden, FL

The sixth annual Challenge 22 walk and block party to help raise funds, educate the community, and support veterans and first responders recently launched a 22-day countdown for the event the entire community is taking part in, which began on Oct. 21 and commences on the day of the event Nov. 12. Volunteers created, and printed several 4x6" flip-style calendars that businesses are placing on check-out counters, dining tables and other high-traffic areas,

The graphics include a variety of statistics and educational information about the veteran suicide epidemic, and how the community can "Be the One" to save the one. Other major nonprofits and community-facing events are using it too.

Additionally, the community is taking place in posting on social media and sharing these graphics and other information obtained from the Be the One campaign media resources.

"We are able to digitally connect with the community in a way that they choose. They can text to give, donate online via our website or event page, volunteer and sponsor online, participate in online auctions and help generate groundswell through peer-to-peer engagement." says Alan Adams, executive board member of Post 63.

Businesses such as hair salons, doctors' offices, eye clinics, schools and sports facilities are encouraged to display the calendars and join the "Team Challenge" to raise the most money for the effort.By setting up a team, each business is saying "we're the one!"
