Toolkit aims to promote Boys State programs

An American Legion Boys State Communications Toolkit has been developed to help posts, departments and others in the Legion family raise awareness and increase participation in the program.

In an email to Boys State program directors and department adjutants, Americanism Commission Chairman Richard Anderson said the toolkit “provides best practices and messaging for communication with students and parents, businesses and civic organizations, and the media.”

The goals of the toolkit are to create further awareness about American Legion Boys State; develop and maintain interest among high school students, those who should attend and why; grow participation in the program; provide cohesive branding and messaging framework with easy to understand talking points and program definitions; and create a consistent look and feel for the program nationwide.

The toolkit includes instructions, website and social media tips, a PowerPoint deck, sample emails and letters, a sample media alert, sample press releases and a selection of articles about Boys State for review.

Those wishing to access the toolkit can email boysnation@legion.org.
